There are many different causing factors that will cause some parents to end up as single parents. There are natural causes like one parent passing away leaving the other one as a widow or widower and also to assume the the role of both father and mother. If I were in that position, then my rights as a single parent or mother would still remain intact because I will not have to share custody of my children with anyone. In many cases such parents are supported by the state, financially and that is if their finances have been crippled by the loss of a parent. Another reason for single parenthood and the most common one is separation or divorce. The rights of both the parents change because one of them has to assume full custody of the children. If the mother for example is given custody of the children, the father who is no longer in union with the mother becomes a single father and his right as a single father will be slightly different. For example, he will be able to see his children at specific times as required by the court, that is the only thing that will change, but he will still have to be financially active in the life of his children. |

Here in the UK, parental rights are slightly different from one state to the other. It is advisable for parents and every one else who would want any sort of advice to visit parent-child or family lawyers. These lawyers will give important advice on parental rights and you are bound to be left with no question since they are very qualified. Some of the areas they will talk about are what rights does a parent have, what to do if the parents are separated or divorced, what are the rights of the mother, what are the rights of the father, termination of parental rights and how to go about it, what would happen to a parent who absconds their rights and responsibility and much more. All you will require is time, your ears and memory so that the information does not go with the winds the moment the session is over. If your memory is not the best, it would be wise to ask for a write-up so that you can refer to it when you forget. If you can not get a lawyer in your area, the internet can provide you with a lawyer who will do the same as the one above. |

I have been having a bit of trouble with my ex and her new partner. They have been causing numerous issues for me an my partner. I find that i am not able to see the kids when i want, we used to have a set pattern but she keeps changing it at the last minute. I need some advice on the law on parental rights to see where i stand if i want to try and obtain full custody of the children. I am not hopeful because i know how most of these cases go and it is never usually in the father favour. I do feel though that me and my partner could offer them a more stable environment than they are in now. I know it would be very difficult but it is the point she is pushing me to. If i could have visits and have the kids stay with me regularly then it would be fine but if she keeps doing this then i am going to have to take it further! |
