For the last 2 years, I have been planning to install an, over the bath shower in our bathroom! This has never happened and I haven't even got round to gathering quotations for the work to be carried out! Our house is perfect for me and my young son, just the two of us live here and although I would have liked a bit more space, the area is lovely, the garden is lovely and we have plenty of room to park at least 3 cars! So.. do not really want to be moving just yet! If I had the money then I would change the heating system completely, install the long awaited shower, get wooden flooring put down in the lounge and have the bathroom and kitchen completely re-done. I would also have professionals redesign and refurbish my bedroom (my skills don't extend further than being able to use Pinkgrip to stick things)! However, until I win the lottery or come across alot of money, this dream home will be very very long awaited! |

My biggest clean up was one big ordeal. Anyone who knows me might think I'm going to mention tank cleaning or any of the professional jobs I'm involved in, but actually no - it was a domestic job.
We had a party for my daughter who had turned 21. I was of the understanding that it was going to be a very small gathering. I went away for the night and returned the following morning. Oh my, it was horrific. I had never seen so much rubbish. It had been thrown on the front lawn and was littered all the way through the house. She was asleep and refused to help me. I wasn't terribly happy. However I decided to get to work and got out my huge rubbish bags. I must have picked up at least 100 bottles. Lots of smashed glass was swept away. The kitchen was an absolute mess. The fridge has been cleaned out and was on its side. I can to clean the walls to as there was food smeared on it in sections. I was beginning to get furious. The carpet was filthy. I decided to call in a carpet cleaner as my daughter's expense. I was surprised that I cleaned up the horrible mess within a day. I was quite proud of my effort however I have declared there will never be any parties in this house ever again. My daughter isn't too happy with this decision but that's life. |

I've worked in what I would describe as "indoors jobs" or what you might call "desk jobs" - from data entry to programming. When it comes to practical jobs, I can barely hold a hammer and position a nail. Even if I manage that, watch me the bend the nail in one swift hammer blow. I envy those guys that have the confidence to fix their car engine, change a tyre, etc. Even the pros with their concrete screeds and fork-lifts and whatnot make me think they're doing a far more difficult task than the things I do to make a living. I realise that most of the jobs we do on a daily basis aren't that difficult (as we work our way into our own comfort zone of skill and tolerance), but I still find these jobs rather enigmatic - the need for physical strength, concentration, and dexterity. |
